Casement Windows: flexible opening styles for everyday living

Choose top- or side-opening sashes, fixed panes and French casements to suit each room. REHAU and VEKA show how opening layouts, frame profiles and traditional detailing can give this versatile style a very different character.

Opening layouts shaped around your room

REHAU combines fixed panes, top-opening fanlights and side-opening lights. VEKA describes layouts ranging from a single sash to several opening sections. This lets you position ventilation where you need it while choosing which parts of the view remain uninterrupted by an opening sash.

Explore French casements

VEKA illustrates a cream French casement above a kitchen sink: paired opening sashes give the window a distinctive symmetrical appearance. Ask us to compare this arrangement with separate side openers for your opening, including how you will reach the handles and use the window each day.

Choose your frame profile and character

REHAU offers chamfered and sculptured profile styles, giving you a choice between more angular and softer shaped detailing. Its brochure also describes clip-on Georgian bars, arched head inserts and run-through sash horns. Available options depend on the selected window system.

Keep the finish without repainting

Modern PVC-U frames provide a choice of colours and woodgrain effects without the regular sanding and painting associated with timber frames. Complete the design with handles and glazing suited to the room. Cleaning and routine care of moving parts and seals are still needed.
